Found this whilst researching for my dissertation. Adidas used local graffiti artists in Berlin to seamlessly promote their new customizable range of trainers – adicolor.
After putting up 99.5% white/blank posters in paid-for ad space, local artists began appropriating the space for their own use (and even promotion). Adidas then re-postered the same billboards with die-cut versions of the trainers…
The result? Site-specific ads customized by the target market. Fucking Brilliant
